Mr. Larsen's practice focuses primarily on employment law and business litigation. He counsels management on establishing and maintaining appropriate employment practices in areas such as medical examinations and drug testing, leaves of absence, the handling of employee complaints, privacy rights, wage and hour laws, employee safety, and maintaining at will employment conditions. Mr. Larsen defends employers against claims of unlawful discrimination, wrongful termination, and matters involving the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. He has handled employment matters in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies such as the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the Labor Commissioner, the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board and the Employment Development Department. He also handles complex business litigation, including cases involving contractual disputes, trade secrets, unfair business practices, the False Claims Act, and legal malpractice. Mr. Larsen is the author of several articles on employee relations and has been a contributing editor for Employment Discrimination Law, published by the American Bar Association. Mr. Larsen is the president of the Human Resource Association of Central California, the local affiliate for the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), and is a founder and board member of the Central Valley Safety Society. An alumnus of Leadership Fresno, he serves on the steering committee of the Valley Business Conference. Mr. Larsen is a member of the Fresno County, Los Angeles County and American Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice in the State of California (1989), U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California (1989) and U.S. District Court, Northern District of California (1999). He is a graduate of Brigham Young University (JD, cum laude, 1989; BA, 1986). |
